In 1974, long before Rihanna was winning the Met Gala and rocking dresses made of Swarovski crystals and not much else, another fashion icon upstaged everyone at the Met Gala with the OG “naked” dress.

That icon was none other than Cher, who wore a sheer Bob Mackie gown embellished with nothing but silver streaks and white feathers. As Vogue reported, she then wore the dress again for her Time cover.

Not only did the issue sell out almost immediately, but it was also banned in some cities.

On Thursday night, the look was resurrected by another dark-haired, big-voiced singer, Paper reported: one Dua Lipa, who showed up to her performance in Paris wearing what appears to be a spot-on recreation of Cher’s gown (or, possibly, the original) over a ɴuᴅᴇ bodysuit.

As a video from her Instagram sнows, Dua wore it while performing a cover of Troye Sivan’s “My My My.” Although the singer didn’t reveal who made the dress, she seemed thrilled to be channeling Cher, captioning one pH๏τo, “Prep 4 dress of my dreams spam but for now gnight Paris  ❤️.”

It looks like her team was conscious of the reference as well. Her hairstylist, Anna Cofone, captioned one pH๏τo of Dua, “A très cher moment in #couture ✨.”

This isn’t the first time Dua has twinned with another famous woman in a statement dress. In February, she showed up to the BRIT Awards in a Giambattista Valli gown made of an explosion of pink tulle around the same time Kim Kardashian wore a similar concoction by Off-White for a pH๏τoshoot in ODDA magazine.
